The attached council agenda and packet for the November 28 regular meeting have been provided by the Village of Bluffton.

Items include:

- A resolution authorizing a governmental natural gas aggregation program.

- A resolution to accept the rate charged by the Village of Ottawa for bulk water in 2023.

- A resolution of necessity for S.R. 103 curb replacement

The packet includes:

- The voucher report for 11/28/2022

- Minutes from the Zoning Board of Appeals public meeting regarding a request for variance to conduct business at 320 S. Main.

Betty Louise Burkholder, 81, passed away November 28, 2022, at 2:40 a.m., at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Arlington.

Betty was born July 23, 1941 in Bluffton, to the late Arthur and Maxine (Bash) von Stein. 

Betty graduated from Cory-Rawson High School in 1959 and from the North Western School of Commerce in 1961.

Soon after in 1961, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Jerry Burkholder. They were married 61 years. 

Betty began working at Citizens National Bank, Bluffton, Ohio in 1961.

On Tuesday, November 22, the Van Wert County sheriff's office announced that in an act of vandalism, thousands of domesticated mink were released from Lion Farms USA Mink Farm, some 33 miles from Bluffton. On November 27, a Bluffton Icon reader reported that a mink was spotted on County Line Rd. near the Village Park.

Some 10 thousand mink are believed to have escaped from among the 25 thousand or more that were released. Many were killed on roads near the farm.

The Bluffton Police Department reminds us that wild mink do live in this area and have been spotted in recent years.

A Mix & Match Christmas Cookie Sale is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10 at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church fellowship hall (corner of Main and Cherry streets).

Customers may select from a variety of home-baked cookies; cost is $7.00 per pound. 

Proceeds will support mission projects, both local and PCUSA denominational.  For more information, contact the church office 419-358-5806.

Men's basketball, November 27
The Bluffton University men's basketball team made the short trip west across US 30 on Sunday, Nov. 27, to do battle with Division I Purdue Fort Wayne. In what was an exhibition contest for the Beavers, Bluffton fell, 106-41, to the Mastodons who have a tight loss to Michigan and an 80-point victory over Manchester on their resume this season.
