FRIDAY 1 P.M. UPDATE: Three hundred additional sand bags are being created as this story is being posted. With the estimated 500 bags made on Thursday and today's 300 bags, in all 1,800 sandbags have been made since Fe. 27.
Most of the bags are already distributed and in place. Now comes the difficult part: waiting out the weather.
THURSDAY 10:30 P.M. UPDATE: Volunteers are needed at 10 a.m. on Friday morning at the EMS garage at the corner of Washington and Thurman streets, according to Rick Skillier, Bluffton police chief.

Jerry and Lori Lewis join a long list of Bluffton residents recognized over the years by the Bluffton Lions Club. This week the couple received the title of Citizens of the Year by the Lions Club. The annual award dates back to the early 1980s.
A banquet honoring the couple is planned for 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, in the Patio Room of Maple Crest. The event is open to the public. Persons interested in attending need to make reservations by Friday, March 18, to either Vanessa Greer, Lions president (419-369-4721) or Daryl Shields, Lions program chair (419-358-0810).
Jane Austen fans are invited to participate in a weekly series of movies at the Bluffton Public Library in March and early April. Each movie is shows at 1:30 p.m.

March is a busy month at the Bluffton Public Library. Teen Tech Week is observed March 6-12, Women's History Month is observed the entire month. Several special programs are held.
