Boys' soccer: BHS stops Temple 3-1 for district title

Bluffton outside Pioneers 14 to 2

Kalida hosted Bluffton Pirates and Temple Christian Pioneers for the District final on Saturday. Bluffton prevailed 3-1.
 
Scoring got started at 2 minutes when Pirate Luke Young crossed a ball to Eli Bourassa who buried it. The balance of the half saw a number of Bluffton build-ups, with Temple Christian rejections.
 
In the second half at minute 51 Temple Christian scored on a well place kick.

Writers to Visit Bluffton Library in November

Judy Clemens will lead a NaNoWriMo Workshop and Carol Craft will do a Book Talk and Signing

Join local author Judy Clemens for a NaNoWriMo Kick-Off Workshop on Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m.! Clemens will discuss her writing experiences, and take registrants through some writing prompts to prepare for NaNoWriMo, a challenge in which she herself has participated! Her most recent book, Tag You're Dead: A Thriller, was published under the author name J. C. Lane, and Kirkus Reviews praises it as a "fun ride" by a "veteran of several genres."

Saturday book signing at Book ReViews

Barbara Plaugher's book "Perseverance: Mission to the World"

Book ReViews, 123 S. Main St., Bluffton will hold a book signing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, according to Dr. Christina Walton, store manager.

Bluffton resident Barbara Plaugher, RN, BNS and MSN, retired, will sign her book "Perseverance: Mission to the World."

The book is an account of 20 mission trips through Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity (VOSH).

Plaugher notes that the book offers several humorous and adventurous experiences of a nurse who desires to help others."

Saturday is final farmers' market of 2016

Saturday is the final Bluffton Farmers' Market for 2016.

The market is located in the Citizens National Bank parking lot on South Main Street. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon. The market will reopen in May 2017. The market is operated by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.
