Bluffton University sports recap, November 1-5

Football: Beavers blow through Anderson 27-9
The Bluffton University football team picked up a 27-9 win against Anderson University on Saturday, Nov. 5. The Beavers improved to 2-7 overall (2-4 HCAC) while the Ravens stayed winless at 0-9 overall (0-5 HCAC).

The men hit the home turf again next Saturday, Nov. 12, when they welcome Northwest Ohio rival Defiance College to Alumni Field for Senior Day. Kick-off is slated for 1:30 p.m.

Pandora Thanksgiving meal on November 16

The November Community Meal in Pandora will be held from 5:00-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday November 16th 5:00-6:30 at 108 E. Washington St.

First National Bank is the sponsor.

The menu is shredded chicken sandwich, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, assorted desserts, drink.

General election includes local issues for Apollo Career Center, unincorporated areas of Allen County

Tuesday, November 8, 2022 is Election Day with in person voting from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. The polling location for Bluffton precincts A, B and C is The Centre at Bluffton,  601 N. Main St.

The Allen County Board of Elections has posted sample ballots at www.allen.boe.ohio.gov

November 7 – Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 7
November 8 – ELECTION DAY / Polls open 6:30 a.m. -7:30 p.m. / Absentee ballots must be in drop boxes by 7:30 p.m.

Charles E. Roby worked for Peters Millwork

Updated November 7.

Charles " Chuck" E. Roby, 86, passed away November 4, 2022 at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center. Chuck was born February 6, 1936 in Lima to the late Rufus and Leala (Alspaugh) Roby. On January 22, 1955 he married Joyce Snyder Roby who preceded him in death on April 7, 2021.

Pirate runners Armstrong, Nygaard top 4 at state CC meet

Boys cross country team finishes 10th

Led by two top-four standout runners, the Bluffton boys squad finished a solid 10th at the 20-team Div. III state cross country meet late Saturday morning, November 5, at Fortress Obetz. 

Pirate senior Landon Armstrong crossed the finish line third out of 185 runners in 15:55.3 to pace the red and white in his last race.

Bluffton senior teammate Erik Nygaard finished right behind him in fourth at 15:59.2.

The speedy Pirate duo finished higher than any other tandem in the meet.

Brylan Holland of East Canton won the boys state crown with a time of 15:41.7, followed by Rittman's Luke Snyder in second at 15:50.8.
