Weekend Doctor: Spending time outdoors

Spending time outdoors can positively affect mental and physical health. From improving mood to increasing activity levels, nature can nurture us.

Screen time dominates our lives. We spend more time in front of computers or other electronic devices and less time connecting with family, friends, pets and nature. Many Americans log as many as 10 hours of screen time per day. Setting down the devices and going outdoors has been linked to benefits including increased attention and reduced stress levels.

BHS tennis edges Wauseon

The Bluffton High School girls tennis team won all three singles matches to nip  visiting Wauseon 3-2 Thursday evening, September 8.

With their second straight victory, the Pirates improved to 3-6.

Junior Brooke Camper of Bluffton cruised with a 6-0, 6-0 double bagel win over senior Emah Starkweather.

Sophomore Rory Youngpeter won at second singles over junior Lola Lavinder by a 6-2, 6-1 count.

Sophomore Ava McComey rallied to win a three-setter at third singles over sophomore Elise Eberle 5-7, 6-2, 6-0.

Pirates nipped by Titan girls soccer

The Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost to visiting Ottawa-Glandorf 2-1 in 
non-conference play Thursday evening, September 8.

Their first loss dropped the Pirate record to 6-1 overall. O-G improved to 5-12-1 with the win.

Ella Armstrong scored in the second minute on an assist from Sami Scoles to give Bluffton a very early lead. However, they would not score again over the final 77 minutes.

Bluffton spikers sweep Hornets

RAWSON⎯The visiting Bluffton High School volleyball team swept Cory-Rawson in a  non-league match Thursday evening, September 8.

The Lady Pirates improved to 6-2 with the 25-19, 25-7, 25-15 triumph.

Scammers target Apollo Craft Show registration

No online payment is available

The Dec. 3 Christmas at Apollo craft show has reported an online scam pretending to be a registration and payment link.

Registration forms for the Apollo Career Center Craft Show must be downloaded, filled out, and mailed in or dropped off at Apollo with payment and can be found at https://apollocareercenterhs.com/craft-show/

There is no online payment or registration for vendors.

Three opportunities to check out high school bowling club

The Bluffton Gators Bowling Club is inviting high school student to join in Open Bowling for the 2022-23 season.

Students can come out to learn about the team, talk to the coach, and bowl for free:

  • Wednesday October 12th
  • Monday October 17th
