Annie Stocking 1924 - 2016

Annie Leishman Stocking, 92, of Bluffton and formerly of Brook Park, Ohio, died June 20, 2016, at 3:25 p.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Annie was born June 15, 1924, in Kirkintilloch, Scotland, to the late Albert and Jessie (Leishman) Unwin.  Annie was the youngest of seven children and immigrated to the United States in 1948. On Sept. 11, 1954, she married Robert Stocking who preceded her in death on June 27, 2011.

Jerry Tripp leads a junior high basketball clinic at Bluffton Family Recreation this week. The clinic participants include Bluffton and Pandora-Gilboa players.

Next "cars and coffee" is Saturday morning

The second Bluffton cars and coffee event of the season is from 8 to 11 a.m., Saturday, June 25, according to Tim Boutwell of Heated Vehicle Storage, 906 N. Main St.

“Cars and coffee is a gathers of auto enthusiasts where drivers congregation to enjoy a cup of coffee and kick tires,” said Boutwell. “There is something for everyone including classics, exotics, sports cars, luxury cars, imports and domestics.”

The event is open to the public. Coffee and pastries are provided by Common Grounds.

Door prizes are awarded every 15 minutes.

Emmanuel UCC ice cream social July 22

Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8375 Phillips Road, Bluffton, will hold an ice cream social on Friday, July 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Free yoga class Thursday at BFR

Want to try yoga, but never had the opportunity?

Bluffton Family Recreation offers a free yoga class open to men and women from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 23.

The class, instructed by Erica Sheehan, takes place at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton. Call 419-358-4150 for more details.

BFR 5-K moves from Labor Day weekend to Fall Festival in late September

Runners on your mark.

Bluffton Family Recreation moved its traditional Labor Day 5K, to the weekend of the Bluffton Fall Festival, Saturday, Sept. 24, according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director.

Except for the date change, this year’s race is very similar to previous races. The race starts at 9 a.m. A kid’s fun run and walk is at 10 a.m.

Age groups in the run are:
14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60 and up.

Race day registration starts for the 5K at 8:30 a.m. and for the fun run at 9:30 a.m.
