Bluffton school orchestras participate in large group contest

High school, junior high and 6th grade orchestras

The Bluffton School orchestras recently participated in a re-imagined large group contest held on May 6. 

Dave Stein, Lima Senior Orchestra director, was invited to adjudicate the Bluffton orchestras. The orchestras are under the direction of Rachael E. Lewis. 

Bluffton HS Orchestra performed in class "C" playing "Measured Tones" by Alan Lee Silva and "Concertino in G" by Elliot del Borgo. Rating 'Superior."

Beavers in 5-team double elimination Heartland tourney

The Bluffton University baseball team defeated Rose-Hulman on Saturday, sending Bluffton into the five-team double elimination Heartland Conference Tournament at Lexington, Ky., starting Thursday, May 20.

RHIT had won 20 straight games over the Beavers heading into game one of the tournament last Friday, but Bluffton put an end to that with an 11-inning victory in the series opener.

The Beavers added a string of exclamation points on Saturday when a 9-7 Beaver victory completed the sweep.

Bluffton pool aiming toward May 29 opening day

Here's all the details swimmers need

According to the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool Facebook, the pool will open for the summer on Saturday, May 29.

Here is additional information swimming need to know:
Hours: Weekday Noon – 8 p.m.
Weekends: 1 – 6 p.m.
Daily admission: $4
10-punch pass (anyone can use punches): $35
Family Pass: (2 adults/3 children living together) $155
Additional Children: $15
Single Pass: $75
Senior Season Pass: $45
2-hour pool rental: $250

Rentals will not be set until the first day that the pool opens.

I wrote ‘The Never Ending Path’ partly for myself and partly for my mother, trying to make sense of something that I didn’t believe anyone ever would. A more detailed explanation at at the bottom of this column.

These Pirates will become Falcons

These six Bluffton High School seniors are headed to Bowling Green State University in the fall. The Icon caught up with them during street painting on Friday. From left Taylor Schwab, Nic Essinger, Brenna Kindle, Ellie Hoffman, Kayla Van Atta and Collin Oglesbee.

Division III district at Findlay May 19-20

COLUMBUS GROVE - The Bluffton boys track and field team finished a strong second at the Northwest Conference meet Thursday and Saturday at Columbus Grove.

Meet host Grove claimed both the boys and girls championships. CG cruised to the boys title with 217.5 points, ahead of second-place Bluffton (123.5).

CG captured the girls crown with 163 points, while Spencerville finished second at 141.
