Esther Spar was a Beaverdam HS graduate

Esther M. Spar, 97 died July 16, 2021 at Otterbein-Cridersville Nursing Home. She was born November 12, 1923 in Beaverdam to the late Walter M. and Luella M. (Steiner) Hochstettler. On July 19, 1945, she married Donald D. Spar and he passed away September 3, 2019.

Esther was a graduate of Beaverdam High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Evangelical and Reformed Church where she participated in the Builder's Class and sang in the choir.

What is in a Pattern?

What is in a pattern? Is there a science behind patterns? The shell of a snail is a great example of how nature contains patterns that can be explained by math. The pattern found in a snail's shell can be explained by a phenomenon known as Fibonacci numbers. In addition, our brains naturally attempt to combine information to form patterns to make decisions quickly. With repeated exposure to information, our brain tries to simplify decisions by forming patterns.

Are you feeling WILD in this season of long days, lightning bugs, and summer blooms? Would you like to explore what Mary Oliver calls your one wild and precious life? Come join a circl of women writing for a morning of leaning into the wildness fo one's heart and soul.

Women are invited to circle on Saturday, July 31 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at St. John's UCC in Bluffton, Ohio (223 W. College Avenue).

Circle is hosted by Katherine Beckett and Corrie Reed, graduates of the Wellstreams Program for Spiritual Formation and the Art of Spiritual Direction.

Chassity Gallant was a first grade teacher

Chassity Lynn Gallant, 48, of Tallahassee, Florida and formerly of Bluffton passed away unexpectedly on July 8, 2021 at her residence. Chassity was born September 16, 1972 in Lima to Michael and Robin (Williams) Romick. On November 11, 1995 she married Dennis Gallant who survives.

Chassity graduated from Bluffton High School and later received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Bluffton College. She was a first grade teacher at Robert F. Munroe Day School in Quincy, Florida. Chassity enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

July 24 Bluffton Discovery Day: Corn-a-thon

Bluffton merchants and organizations are hosting special "Discovery Days" on the fourth Saturday of the month through September 2021.

On July 24, the event theme is a "Corn-a-thon." At participating locations, shoppers can earn tickets for a prize drawing. The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the grand opening of Bluffton Lantern Nutrition, 142 E. Jefferson (Tommy's Plaza), with a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon. Businesses and community groups are also scheduling family activities throughout the day.
