It's a new season

Here's the fall 2021 Pirate schedule - Leipsic replaces Paulding in the NWC

Alex Hanna, Bluffton High School athletic director, released the fall 2021 sports schedules. One major change is that Paulding is no longer a member of the Northwest Conference. Leipsic has replaced the Panthers in the league.

The attactment lists the following 10 team schedules:

• Volleyball
• Girls' soccer
• Boys' soccer
• Golf
• Cross country
• Football
• JV football
• Junior high football
• Junior high volleyball
• Girls' tennis

West Ohio Food Bank inviting volunteers to assist in food distribution

Ohio National Guard will end its participation in the program in July

Ohio National Guard Major Gen. John Harris announced that he has directed July 2, as the end of all missions at all food banks across the state of Ohio.

National Guard troops have been working side by side with West Ohio Food Bank staff, partner agencies, and volunteers since March 25, 2020, all through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hardin County Pullers first meet of the season Saturday in Ada

The Hardin County Pullers host its first tractor and truck pull of the summer on Saturday, June 12, at the Ada War Memorial Park, according to Chris Vermillion of the club.

Gates open at 4 p.m. and competition begins at 7 p.m.

His 1:55.35 time is a Blufton High School record • Pirates score 11 points to finish in 21st place

WESTERVILLE - Several Bluffton boys track and field athletes competed well in the Div. III state meet held at Westerville North High School Friday and Saturday.

It gets the green light

Monday, June 7, 2021, marks the first day of Allen County Regioinal Transportation bus service from Lima to Bluffton and back to Lima. Five weekday buses will stop in Bluffton. Here's the 8:48 a.m. right on time and on its way to SumiRiko. (The Icon added the word "Bluffton" on the bus for a hometown touch.) Click here for the bus schedule.

Long-term village strategic planning discussed

Bluffton planning commission's May 18 focus

Bluffton’s planning commission, meeting May 18, held a discussion focusing on long-term strategic planning needs of the village.

This is the first serious discussion on this topic since a Village Visioning Plan developed after a one-year study, which concluded in 2006.
