Bluffton Hospital cardiopulmonary department has received an additional three-year term of accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Echocardiography in the area of Adult Transthoracic.
This accreditation demonstrates the hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care in echocardiography.
Echocardiography, or echo, is used to assess different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease or signs of serious conditions.
It carries all the pomp and circumstance of any graduation ceremony, but it is one of a kind in the 139-year history of Bluffton High School commencements.
The Bluffton High School commencement tradition is the longest-standing annual event in our community. It didn’t take place this year, or did it? The answer is both yes and no.

Robert D. (Bob) Bowersox, 93, of Bluffton, formerly of Mt. Cory, died Friday, May 22, 2020, at the Mennonite Home in Bluffton.
He was born on March 14, 1927, in Mt. Cory, to the late John and Anna (Gorby) Bowersox. On June 11, 1948, he married Thelma M. Welty at St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora. Thelma preceded Bob in death on Nov. 23, 2010.

Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, has reopened its doors to members. Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director provided the Icon with the following guidesllines and summer scheduling:
This summer we are offering a more limited group exercise schedule. TRX and Weight Lifting 101 are limited to five participants per class in order to maintain social distancing and the safety protocols put in place for gyms. Register on the BFR website or call BFR at 419-358-4150.
Bluffton's 2019-20 school year concluded on Friday. Instead of the elementary photo gallery of hugs and students cheering in the hallways, it was pretty subdued. A line of vehicles awaited in turn as students dropped off books and supplies and picked up personal items.
