Bluffton Barberettes perform Friday night at Maple Crest

Bluffton's Barberettes women's chorus has several late winter and spring concerts scheduled. The schedule follows:

March 11 - Maple Crest, 6:30 p.m.
March 31 - Richland Manor, 6:30 p.m.
April 7 - Birchaven Village, Findlay, 2:00 p.m.
April 15 - Hilty Home, Pandora, 6:30 p.m.
May 2 - Mennonite Memorial Home, 6:30 p.m.

Jayne McGarrity directs the Barberettes. Janette Reineke is the choreographer.

"50 Years of Preserving Local History" Swiss Historical Society's spring meeting topic on Sunday

The Swiss Community Historical Society of Bluffton and Pandora invites the public to "50 Years of Preserving Local History" by Amos Schwartz, a historic preservationist from Berne, Ind. The presentation is Sunday, March 13, at 2 p.m. in the Patio Room (lower level) of Maple Crest Senior Living Village on Augsburger Road.

Schwartz is the recipient of the Indiana Landmark Association 2008 Historic Preservationist of the Year award. He has 50 years of experience in restoring historical dwellings and barns, and has restored seven bridges in Ohio.

Add 1.8 additional inches of snowfall to the 2011 record

March came in with 1.8 additional inches of snow for the year. Add January's 18.3 inches and February's 16 inches, March's total gives us 36.1 inches of snowfall for 2011.

Pandora council looking into stimulus money for water tower project

Stan Schneck, Pandora village administrator, updated Pandora's council on possible stimulus funds for a possible new water tower in the village industrial park.

The announcement took place during the Feb. 22 council meeting. Schneck said that he was contacted by Ken Maag of Poggemeyer Design Group regarding stimulus funds.

If the application for such project would be granted, it would pay 50 percent of the total project. The engineering for the water tower has been completed.

St. Mary's Catholic Church hosts children's clothing swap March 25-26

A children's clothing swap will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bluffton, from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 25, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 26.

Persons are invited to drop off clothes at the church, 160 N. Spring St., on Wednesday, March 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. or on Thursday, March 24, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. If those times don't fit, persons may call Becky at 419-326-1340 to set up a time.
