While Sen. Bernie Sanders witnessed Joe Biden's presidential inauguration on Jan. 20, he also was seen in several Bluffton locations on that day. Lauren Canaday spotted Bernie in front of the public library. Other sighting included one by Reema Bazzy, now of St. Paul, Minn., who spotted him in front of the town hall. Later in the day he was sitting in front of the Bluffton Dari Freeze. Those photos of Bernie follow. Viewers are invited to send the Icon additional Bernie sightings that we may have missed.

Leona Row Conrad died Jan. 25, 2021. She was born on July 28, 1938, in Alvada, Ohio, to Arvel Row and Lou Anna Carpenter.
She graduated from Vanlue High School. She married Donavon Jan Conrad on Dec. 2, 1961. She worked at Marathon Oil in accounts payable and later at Cooper Tire in payroll.
She is survived by three children, Jon (Lorie) of Mountain View Wyoming; Canda (John) Rooney of Sedona, Arizona, and Michael of Davison, Michigan, 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The Bluffton University women defeated Earlham College on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021. It was a close contest but the Beavers held on for the 58-49 win, moving the Beavers to 9-1 on the year.
The visitors started off the game slowly, falling behind 15-9 at the end of the first quarter. Junior Brianna Gillig (New Riegel) fueled the Beavers in the first with four early points and a steal. Emma Saltzman (Arcadia) cleaned up the boards as well with two rebounds.

The Beavers headed to Earlham College on Friday, Jan. 22, to battle the Quakers. The Beavers bested the home team, winning 69-55 and staying undefeated at 6-0 on the season while the Quakers fell to 1-2.
