Local author Marilyn Stark will have a book signing at Book ReViews, S. Main St., Bluffton, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 24, according to Dr. Christina Walton, store manager.

During the book signing Stark will autograph her books, read excerpts and discuss “how not to publish” and “research how-to.”

She will sign her latest book of history, mystery and romance, Safe Passage in Masquerade, which is the fifth book in her Children’s Home Mystery Series. Previous books in this series are The Flutist and the Dancer (nominated for the Frankfurt eBook Award); The Pianist and the Locksmith; Broken Arrows, Broken Promises; and Trails End Isle & Wings.

Stark and R. L. Townsend, a former county commissioner, edited and compiled a 329-page book for the Lima Allen County Historical Society, The History and Purposes of Allen County: Buildings, Institutions and Government. They also authored Lima-Allen County, Ohio: A Pictorial History, which is now out of print.

Stark was one of the early members and former president of the Lima Area Writers Club in 1980 and served as president for years afterward. She edited the LAWC Review for Prose and Poetry; copies of which are available at Book ReViews.

A feature writer for The Enterprise in Lima and The Senior Beacon, Stark is a prolific writer of prose, poetry, genealogies, newsletters and family histories.

Stark is also a longtime active member of the Bluffton Creative Writers, a group that meets at 2 p.m. on the second Monday of month at Maple Crest. The group will meet in June and then resume meetings in August.
