Junior shortstop Caylin Morstadt (Delaware/Rutherford B. Hayes) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week for the second time in three weeks!

52nd juried student exhibit opens April 1

The Bluffton University art department will present the 52nd Juried Student Exhibition from April 1-May 5 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery in Sauder Visual Arts Center. The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will showcase work created this academic year by students in university art classes or supervised independent studies.

Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. 

Emily Buckell, assistant professor of Spanish at Bluffton University, will present the colloquium, “Cuba – Cuban, Caribbean or Latin?,” at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 29 in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.

During the presentation, Buckell will elaborate on her trip to Cuba in July 2018. She will discuss the linguistic and phonetic characteristics of the Cuban language as well as her observations of Cuban culture. She will compare her observations to her experiences of the Caribbean and Latin American culture.

This event is free and open to the public.

Promotes empowerment through mentorship

“Mentorship: A Relationship for Life,” is the theme of this year’s “Women Enriching Women” conference organized by the Bluffton University Women’s Council.

Softball: Bluffton slips 1-run decisions vs. Albion

The Bluffton University baseball team held off Otterbein 7-6 on Wednesday, March 20. Bluffton improved to 7-7 on the season, while Otterbein slipped back to .500 at 7-7 overall.

With bases loaded in the top of the third inning, freshman Cale Sherbourne (Johnstown/Big Walnut) took one for the team when he was hit by a pitch which pushed Bryce Fink (Medina) across the plate and tied the game 1-1. The Cardinals responded with three runs in the fourth, making it 4-1 heading into the fifth inning.

March 31 presentation at Bluffton University

Dora Maendel of Fairholme Hutterite Colony and Dr. Duane Stoltzfus of Goshen College will present “On the Front Line of Conscience: An Account of Four Hutterites Imprisoned at Alcatraz” at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, in Yoder Recital Hall on the Bluffton University campus.
