Dr. Martina Cucchiara, associate professor of history at Bluffton University, will present the Colloquium, "Saving the Nation: War, Sex and Pious Women in Catholic Magazines for Girls and Women in Germany from 1885 to 1920,” at 4 p.m. on Feb. 2 in Stutzman Lecture Hall.
According to Cucchiara, during World War I, women’s increased mobility, employment and autonomy in the absence of men gave rise to widespread anxieties about the supposed sexual and moral transgressions of German girls and women.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University men's basketball squad headed south on Interstate 75 to take on the Transylvania University Pioneers. Despite a strong start by the Beavers, Transylvania took control in the second half to defeat the visitors, 81-67. Bluffton stands 8-9 overall (5-5 HCAC), while the Pioneers improved to 13-4 and 8-2 in the conference.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University women's basketball team was unable to overcome a 30 percent shooting afternoon as Transylvania University capped its season sweep of the Beavers with a 73-59 victory on Saturday, Jan. 20. Bluffton slipped to 12-5 and 7-3 in the Heartland Conference, while Transy improved to 13-4 and 8-2 in the HCAC.
