Bush to reflect on semester in Ukraine

Dr. Perry Bush, a Bluffton University professor of history, will discuss his semester as a Fulbright scholar in Ukraine during a Bluffton colloquium at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall. His presentation, “Lecturing down the Dnipro: A Semester in Ukraine” is free and open to the public.

A Royal surprise at Maple Crest’s Valentine gala

Maple Crest residents were royally surprised at their 2013 Valentine gala to learn there was a tie for the honored position of Valentine king and queen. 

Ernest and Naomi Bosse and Carl and Claralice Wolf were the elected couples this year, becoming the second king and queen tie since the Valentine tradition began at Maple Crest 10 years ago.

Bluffton season comes to an end with 81-74 loss at Transylvania

The Bluffton University men’s basketball team fell short of the conference tournament after a tough loss at Transylvania University on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013.

The Beavers finished the season 11-14 and 7-11 in Heartland Conference. Transylvania improved to 19-6 and 14-4 in HCAC. The Pioneers will play Mount St. Joseph in the first round of the HCAC tournament next Friday, Feb. 22.

McDonald's Presidents' Day one cent special

Jerry Lewis' McDonald's restaurants in Ada, Bluffton, Beaverdam, Delphos, Van Wert and Lima celebrate the Presidents' Day holiday, Monday, Feb. 18, with a one cent sale.

Customers who purchase a Big Mac or Quarter Pounder with cheese may also purchase another Big Mac or Quarter Pounder with cheese for one cent.

Keeping Active free programs in final week at BFR

The last events and free wellness programs are being offered this week at BFR Sports & Fitness, according to Carole Enneking, BFR director.

The schedule includes free fitness classes, walking days, plus demonstrations in the fitness center and an informational session about sports nutrition.

Older adults are invited to attend the Thurs. Feb. 2t session of Strength & Flex at 10 am.  The Strength & Flex class is led by Jackie Frey and includes chair-based yoga movements for flexibility plus chair-based weight training.
