BLUFFTON - The Bluffton golf team hosted the eight-team, annual Pirate Invitational at the Bluffton Golf Course Friday.
The Pirates and Lima Central Catholic tied for first place with 330 strokes apiece. But the Thunderbirds won the tiebreaker with a better fifth man score, 90-95.
Kenny Lovett led the Pirates and won the event by two strokes with an 18-hole score of 37-37=74. Owen Knapp of Upper Sandusky finished second with a 37-39=76.

More people can now “Explore Bluffton.”
That’s thanks of the release this month of the newest edition of Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce’s visitors’ guide by that same name.
And for local residents, who may think they already know the town inside and out, there’s a complete listing of businesses that carry a Bluffton address. The directory offers business names, addresses and phone numbers. Chamber member businesses receive a description of their services in the guide.
When it comes to responding to the 2020 U.S. Census

Bluffton and Richland Township residents appear to be on the ball when it comes to responding to the 2020 U.S. Census. (See map at bottom of this story.)
As of today (Aug. 10), Bluffton and Richland Township have a response rate of 80.1, and is among the highest recorded total response among Allen County municipalities.
The census response rate for Allen County is 68.4%, compared to 67.5% for the state.
The response rate for cities, villages, and townships located within Allen County ranges from 41% (Lafayette) to 81.7% (Elida).

Indoor band camp rehearsals are outdoor this month. The BHS band, separated correctly via social distancing, works on its fall marching band show in the middle school parking lot. Dave Sycks directs the band, which this year includes 17 freshmen.
