Excessive Heat Watch issued for August 27

An Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio on August 27

The weather event onset is forecast for 11:00 AM (EDT) with dangerously hot conditions with heat index values around or greater than 105.

These conditions are expected from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening.

Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

Bentley Rd closure on August 26

BENTLEY ROAD __ Between Lincoln Highway and Huber Road will be closed Monday, August 26, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. for paving, with no through traffic.

Emergency Vehicles will have access during this closure.

This week the Village of Bluffton Council will hold a second reading on a resolution to adopt an Americans with Disabilities Acts (ADA) Transition Plan (DRAFT HERE) for the Village. The 29-page document was prepared for Bluffton by the Lima/Allen County Regional Planning Commission.

Walter and Barbara (Wiley) Paxson will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on August 23, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church in Portland, Indiana.

The Paxson’s have five children: Marcus (Doris) Paxson, Maria (Leif) Kibele, Darla (Steve) Brumfield, Chris (Jess) Paxson and Gus (Sara) Paxson.

They are the proud grandparents of 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Pirate volleyball sweeps Aug. 24  tri match

BLUFFTON __ The Bluffton volleyball team swept a non-league triangular match Saturday, August 24, over two visiting opponents.

The Pirates swept Riverdale 25-18, 25-8 and defeated Miller City 25-21, 25-15. 

The wins improved the Pirate record to 4-1 this season.

Karlie Lora led Bluffton with six kills to pace the win over the Falcons.

Ayla Grandey, Kendall Stackhouse and Libby Hocanson each drilled five kills. Grandey also fired five aces, and Lora made one block.
