Cherne makes $10,000 donation to West Ohio Food Bank

Cherne has donated $10,000 to the West Ohio Food Bank as part of the work it is performing at Potash during the current turnaround. Cherne provides the funds based on the number of hours worked by the union members they have hired from the Lima Building & Construction Trades Council.

The donation was part of a Safety Incentive that was earned by Cherne as a result of the craftsmen working safely, productively, and with a high level of craftsmanship. The donation was one of several components of the incentive that needs to be put towards the recognition of the safe work practices by the team on the Potash project. The workers voted on which charity would receive the donation and overwhelmingly chose the West Ohio Food Bank.

West Ohio Food Bank Director Gary Bright is grateful for the contribution. “Cherne’s donation of $10,000 will help to provide 80,000 meals to food insecure individuals in the West Ohio Food Bank’s 11 county region.

"We are at a point of critical financial need right now, so new partners like Cherne are so important in our continued ability to meet the increasing need. While we continue to make efforts to increase our food distribution efforts, we are also facing several important capital needs like a $200,000 roof replacement, truck replacement, and a variety of other building and equipment needs; all of this requires new and increased financial partnerships.

"We look forward to a growing partnership with Cherne and also hope that their example encourages other new partners to reach out to us.”
