Gospel Choir and Jazz Ensemble perform April 7
Prepare to dance along in your seat during Bluffton University’s Gospel Choir and Jazz Ensemble concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in Yoder Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public; a free-will offering will be taken during intermission for music scholarships.
Under the direction of Dr. Crystal Sellers-Battle, the Gospel Choir’s program will remember the life of composer Edwin Hawkins, who passed away in January, by singing his most famous song “Oh Happy Day.” A rhythm section led by Wesley Sellers of Columbus will accompany the group.
The Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Andrew Liebermann, will play tunes by Charles Mingus, Oliver Nelson and Duke Ellington.
