Library Fun Day, an all-day Summer Program Kick Off
Bluffton Public Library's Library Fun Day kicks off an event-filled Summer Program themed "Libraries Rock!"
The Kick Off begins at noon on Monday, June 4 with an Indoor Picnic. Bring your own brown bag lunch and visit with other members of the surrounding community.
Then at 12:30 p.m., you'll want to be in the library's rear parking lot for Touch-a-Truck (& llamas!), featuring a variety of local vehicles and machines to explore & view (and some llamas to pet!) The library thanks Bluffton Fire & Police Departments, Hard Rock Llama Co., and several others who will provide the fun for the Touch-a-Truck hour.
At 1 p.m., the Wild Steelions youth steel drum band are sure to add to the fun when they perform outside the library.
At 6 pm, everyone is welcome at the library's regular Jammin' @ the Library song circle, and at 6:30 pm, Findlay's Heartstring Melodies will lead Music Moves Us, a fun musical therapy session geared towards toddlers, preschoolers, K-1 & their families.
Throughout the day (hours are 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.), patrons are encouraged to participate in activities set out on the main floor, and to register for the library's numerous summer events and the Summer Reading Challenge. Registration for a majority of these events begins on the day of the Kick Off. (Please note these exceptions: Registration for the adult programs Healing Power of Nature with Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District- registration due June 7, Succulent Dish Garden with Stratton Greenhouses- registration due June 14, and Line Dancing with Dancing Barb will all open before June 4.)
The Summer Reading Challenge encourages everyone in the surrounding community to read, whether it be through books or audiobooks from library shelves or borrowed through interlibrary loan, or through eBooks or eAudiobooks borrowed through the Ohio Digital Library, a service provided through your Bluffton library card. As each individual participates in the Summer Reading Challenge, there are weekly incentive prizes available for all age groups -- as well as opportunities to add entry slips for Grand Prize drawings for each age group (and a family themed prize, too!)
While registration for most of the summer events begins on the day of the Kick Off, none of the Kick Off festivities require registration.
Please email [email protected] or call 419-358-5016 with any questions about the Library Fun Day.
The library's staff can't wait to see you there!
