BLUFFTON - The Bluffton HS football team will face Riverdale Saturday, Oct. 10, in round one of the Div. VI, region 22 2020 state playoffs.
Brackets and pairings were released Thursday by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
The coaches in region 22 voted Bluffton (2-2) the 19th seed among 26 teams. The Falcons (3-2) were seeded 14th in region 22.
The Bluffton/Riverdale winner will play at third seed Sherwood Fairview in round two on Saturday, Oct. 17. Fairview received a first round bye as one of the top six seeds.

ARLINGTON - The Allen East golf team won the 12-team Div. III sectionals at Sycamore Springs Golf Course Thursday.
AE won with 340 strokes, with Pandora-Gilboa nine shots behind (349). Van Buren was third (360). Only the top three teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team made it to districts October 8.
Bluffton finished just out of the running for districts by finishing in fourth place (366), six shots behind VB.
Former Bluffton resident Elaine Sommers Rich, 94, died on Sept. 27, 2020, in North Manchester, Indiana. She was born Feb. 8, 1926, to Monroe and Effie (Horner) Sommers in Plevna, Indiana. The children’s novel Hannah Elizabeth is semi-autobiographical about her childhood.
She graduated from Goshen College in 1947 and received a master’s degree from Michigan State University. She married Ronald Rich on June 14, 1953. Ronald died in 2014.
