Elfrieda Martha Landes Ramseyer, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, caring nurse and exceptional educator, died peacefully on January 24, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was 90.
Elfrieda lived a rich life of service. Warm and kind, she was a great friend, always willing to listen and offer words of encouragement. She loved making meals for persons and families in need, and her children recall the smell of freshly made soup and bread many afternoons and evenings as she prepared to drop off a meal. She cherished going to coffee with friends and was well known as a sympathetic listener. She enjoyed participating in church choirs throughout her life, and was a bass in the Sweet Adelines women's barbershop chorus in Iowa for many years.
The daughter of a minister – she referred to herself throughout her life as a "preacher's kid" – Elfrieda learned from an early age the importance of helping others, serving as a community volunteer wherever she lived. She also moved with her family often during her childhood.
Donna Ruth (Hadley) Gisondi, age 88, of Bluffton, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 29, 1936 she was the daughter of Donald and Margaret Hadley who resided in Waynesville, Ohio. On April 14, 1956 she married James (Jim) David Markley and moved to Lebanon, Ohio where together they would raise their family. James preceded her in death in April of 2000.
Douglas Earl Antibus, 41, of Cincinnati and formerly of Bluffton passed away November 20, 2024 at his residence. Douglas was born August 29, 1983 in Missoula, Montana to Robert and Joanne (Vinopal) Antibus.
Carl D. Wagner, 90, passed away January 9, 2025 at Serenity Springs Senior Living in Arlington. Carl was born April 27, 1934 in Orange Township to the late Louis and Helen (Nusbaum) Wagner. On May 18, 1952 he married Mary Gudakunst Wagner who preceded him in death on December 18, 2023 after seventy-one years of marriage.
Dennis G. Marquart, 72, of Forest, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at home with his wife by his side. He was born April 7, 1952 in Bluffton, Ohio to the late Solomon and Margery (Shellenbarger) Marquart. On February 10, 1978, Dennis married Nancy Bishop and she survives. Together they adopted three children and took care of thirty medical needs foster children over a twenty year period.
Marjorie Janice Thomas (née Johns), 97, of Lima, Ohio, died on Sunday, December 29, after a brief stay at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
Born on August 20, 1927, in Lima, Ohio, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarice and Richard Johns of Lima, Ohio; her husband of 40 years, Roger Lee Thomas (d. 2003); and her daughter, Carol Ann (Dave) Siverling (d. 2013).
