Bluffton Public Library patrons will enjoy holiday music performed by local musicians, free refreshments, a visit from Santa Claus and other special holiday programs during December.

Holiday music

Holiday music performances include Jim Boedicker on Monday, Dec. 5, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.; Oscar Velasquez on Saturday, Dec. 10, from noon to 1 p.m.; and the Dulcimer Gatherin' on Monday, Dec. 12, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Free refreshments will be provided during these special events, courtesy of the Friends of the Bluffton Public Library.

Little Pirates (boys in grades 3-6) will begin Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9-10 a.m. in the Bluffton High School gym.

This is a time for skills and drills to be taught and fun competition for any boy basketball player. High school coaches and players will lead Little Pirates. This weekly activity will take place every Saturday morning through the basketball season.

Snow queens

Two snow queens wave to the Blaze crowd from the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio float on Nov. 26.

Basketball fans who give at Bluffton University's men's and women's games on Saturday, Dec. 3, will have a chance to receive as well.

Students in a "Planning for Special Events" class at Bluffton are hosting "A Season of Giving" at Saturday's games against Franklin College, giving prizes to fans who will become eligible for drawings by bringing nonperishable food items for the Bluffton Community Assistance Food Pantry. Tipoff times in Founders Hall are 2 p.m. for the women's game and 4 p.m. for the men.

There is a tie in Week 4 of the Icon NFL Football Contest. Three players tied with 10 points this week. Dan Smith and John Clevidence both picked the same tie-breakers.

8 points - Andy Althaus and Mark Sommers.
7 points - Becky Warren, Ben Reineke, Curt Laughlin, Jim Dillman and Phillip Keeler.

The winner of Week 13 of The Icon College Football Contest is Duane Bollenbacher. Duane accumulated 11 points by picking all 10 games correctly.
