More than 75% of $16 million goal for 60,000-square-foot building already raised
Bluffton University has raised more than 75 percent of its $16 million fundraising goal for construction of a Health and Fitness Education Center (HFEC).
Ethel M. Heldman, 99, formerly of rural Bluffton, died at Good Samaritan Home in Arlington on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010.
Heldman was born July 4, 1911, in Hancock County, to the late George & Dora (Bame) Smith. She married Raymond C. Heldman on Nov. 26, 1932. Raymond preceded her in death on July 1, 2003. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2002.
She is survived by a son, Ronald E. (Marilyn), of Bluffton; and a daughter, Mary E. (Tom) Schoonover, of Platte Lake, Michigan.
Don't touch that dial! The Bluffton Public Library's 75th anniversary celebration display includes this handsome 1937-era radio. The radio is next to the library's display case. Somehow it's difficult to image any 2010-era music coming from this box. More than likely, one might hear "The Shadow," "The Lone Ranger," or "Suspense."
