False reports of active shooters were received in multiple Ohio schools on Wednesday, November 16, including schools in Allen and Hancock counties.

The Icon received a report from the Allen County Sheriff’s Department detailing that “at approximately 9:40 a.m. the Allen County Sheriff’s Office received a call stating there was an active shooter at Lima Temple Christian School with multiple injuries. At 9:43 a.m. law enforcement was on scene and began assessing the situation.”

The following meetings have been announced by the Village of Bluffton.

  • Tree Commission on Tuesday, November 22 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Council Meeting on Monday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m.

So far in 2022, Crime Victim Services has helped 33 people who had credit accounts opened in their names, or credit cards stolen or misused. With identity thefts growing by the day, it’s important to monitor your credit report. On Credit Check Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, five local financial institutions will coordinate with Crime Victim Services to offer credit report checks in 18 locations.

There were no expiring terms among Bluffton's six Council members, so the rancorous midterm elections last week brought no changes to our local government. This meeting's agenda contained no less than ten committee reports, seven articles of legislation, the usual items from administration and safety services, plus public comment. Citizens should know that our representatives dealt with the business before them quickly, respectfully and unanimously. The only thing failing in this democracy is the town's decrepit leaf collection machine, and they've got a bipartisan plan for that. The Village of Beaverdam will hold an Emergency Meeting on Thursday, November 17 at 6:00 p.m. in the Village Hall Council Room, with the purpose of passing Resolution 2022-07 allowing the Village to apply for the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District 2023 Cooperative Park Improvement Grant Program Funding.
