Film, food and entertainment are planned for Global Weekend at Bluffton University on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 4 and 5.

The weekend will begin Friday with a 7:30 p.m. screening of the 1997 Italian film "La vita `e bella (Life is Beautiful)" in Centennial Hall's Stutzman Lecture Hall.

Academy Awards went to the film as Best Foreign Language Film and to its star, director and co-writer Roberto Benigni as Best Actor.

The second quarter honor roll of the 2010-11 school year for the Bluffton Elementary was released. To view it open the attachment at the bottom of this story.

Despite several event cancellations due to the weather Bluffton's American Red Cross blood drive for Thursday, Feb. 3 is still on.

Donations may be made noon to 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 3, at First Mennonite Church.

How to Donate Blood
Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.

Transport for Christ (TFC) will host its annual banquet at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25, at Marbeck Center, Bluffton University.

Rhythm In Motion Dance Centre' had over 20 dancers participate in the ONU 2011 Dance Clinic with the ONU Dance Team on Saturday, Jan. 29.

There were 71 dancers total who danced to a medley of Justin Bieber and created a "Bieber Fever" Dance craze. Dancers range in ages 5-18, from Bath, Ada, Bluffton, Kenton, Hardin Northern, Ridgemont and Bellefontaine.

The girls took class from ONU students and dancers from 12:30-2:20, putting the final product together at the 4 p.m. ONU men's basketball game against John Carroll.

Bluffton High School's second quarter honor roll for 2010-11 was recently released.

Three board members of the Bluffton Housing Corp. have terms that expire this year. The annual stockholders' meeting at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 8, will address that issue, according to Deb Beer, secretary.

Three expiring board members are Beer, Mary Fett and Sue Shields. All three have agreed to serve another three-year term. Continuing board members are Matt Jordan, Lois Goodman, Kathy Rode, Ed Yeager, Fred Rodabaugh and Bob Fett.

Ashton Cluts

Bluffton High School senior Ashton Cluts will represent Allen County-Bluffton in the Ohio Junior Miss Scholarship Program held Feb. 25 - 26, in Mount Vernon.

She is the daughter of Kevin and Shelby Cluts, Bluffton, and is among 32 Ohio high school senior girls in the event.

This year's program will be Ohio's 53rd anniversary with Mount Vernon serving as host city for 38 years. It will also be the transition year to the program's new name and brand image - Distinguished Young Women - Scholarship-Leadership-Talent.
