October is a busy month for the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center. Here are some of the activities planned. The monthly dinner meeting is at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 10, catered by the Mt. Cory United Methodist Church.

Other events follow:

BFR will hold a Kids Fun Night from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, according to Carole Enneking, BFR director.

The evening includes an outdoor pumpkin hunt, games, pizza, flashlight tag and similar games.

It is open to youth from kindergarten to fifth grade. Cost is $10 for members and $20 for non-members.

Persons must register youth by Oct. 11. A limit of 40 youth will be accepted.

Bluffton Family Recreation will hold a community Halloween party (non-scary) from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23, according to Carole Enneking, BFR director.

The event includes games, crafts and snacks.

"Bring your family and friends to the free non-scary event," she said. "Costume judging takes place at 3 p.m. Prizes will be offered.

Several events are on the village calendar in October.

Oct. 4 - Annextion hearing for North Dixie Highway area, 10 a.m., Allen County Commissioner's Meeting Room, third floor of Allen County Courthouse, Lima.

Oct. 10 - Hydrant flushing

Oct. 13 - Village Planning Commission considers final development plans for Mennonite Memorial Home Green Houses Planned Unit Development. Council will hold a hearing on the commission's actions at 8:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24.

Medicare open enrollment periods have changed according to information from the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center. Persons may now make adjustments or change their Part D plans from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7.

Bob Painter is a certified OSHIIP counselor and is available to provide assistance to persons with questions. He is available at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center by appointment on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Call the Center at 419-358-8971for an appointment.

Two community meals are planned in October by the Bluffton Inner-Church Board. Both meals are free and open to the public.

On Thursday, Oct. 6, the meal is sponsored by Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.

On Thursday, Oct. 20, the meal is sponsored by St. John's United Church of Christ.

Donations are accepted and go to the Bluffton food pantry.

Peter Suter of Shannon Theatre announced that "The Lion King in 3D (G) and I Don't Know How She Does It (PG-13)" are showing at the theatre from September 30 to October 6.

2D show times are Saturday & Sunday at 1:30 pm only.

I Don't Know How She Does It

Peter Suter of Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn, 117 S Main St., annouced that "Red Hot Cinnamon and Strawberries & Cream" are Shirley's popcorn flavors of the month for October. Store hours are Thursdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
