Forty-three dead or dying ash trees were removed from Bluffton tree lawns and the Buckeye and village park in 2011. That information was released in the 2011 Bluffton Tree Commissions annual work plan to Bluffton council.

Bridge Hospice is forming a support group focused on loss, grief and healing through the creation of scrapbooks. The Forever Memories Scrapbook Group will meet Wednesday, Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Birchaven Village Chapel, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay.

Attendees will join others who have experienced the death of a loved one in creating scrapbooks that will honor the loved one's life and the relationship that was shared. The group is open to any adult, child or family who has experienced a loss.

Position available, immediate opening, must be resident of Village of Bluffton. Must have the village's interest as a high priority.

Bluffton council will soon seek to fill a vacancy on the council. The vacancy will occur in January when Eric Fulcomer resigns his seat to become mayor. Two years remain on Fulcomer's term.

MHCO staff learn about The Green House Project

Staff, administrators and board members of the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio spent Dec. 13-14 in the classroom to become better acquainted with The Green House (R) Project.

The two-day sessions provided staff, administrators and board members the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the Green House Model and helped created a better understanding of core Green House principles. Leading the sessions were Lisa Maxwell and Heather Marshall from The Green House Project, headquartered in Arlington, Va.

Peter Suter of Shannon Theatre announced that "Alvin & the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" (G) is showing at the theatre from December 21 - 29.

Each evening at 7:00 and 9:30 PM with Thursday and Friday (December 22 and 23) matinees at 1:30 and 4 PM. The theatre will be closed on December 24 and 25. Matinees will be shown daily Monday, December 26 - Sunday, January 1 at 1:30 and 4 PM.

"The traditional New Year's Eve serenading Dec. 31, takes place at Mennonite Memorial Home, and Maple Crest," said Jordan. "We start at 5 p.m. in the lobby of Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St.

"Come 15 minutes early to practice or get acquainted. The Swiss Community Historical Society of Bluffton/Pandora urges all to come, and will provide song sheets, or bring your own," he said.

They come from different eras and different sports, but together, Erin (Kurtz) Baker, Mark Froning and Jesse Williams comprise the Bluffton University Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2011-12.

Baker, who graduated in 2000, Froning '68 and Williams '89 will be inducted during a Feb. 4 dinner and ceremony in Marbeck Center.

Ann Jacobs from Lima won the Relay for Life TV raffled off by the Village Cut N Curl Relay team, according to Lynda Best.

"We made a $800 in profit and $100 for the cut a thon," she said. "We wish to thank all who supported us."
