The parents of the Bluffton High School junior class are in the process of organizing Post Prom activities for Saturday, April 21.
The goal is to provide a fun, safe and enjoyable evening. Post prom will include various chaperoned games and activities for student participation. The committee hopes to collect enough donated items so that every BHS junior and senior who attends will receive a door prize.
The committee is inviting area businesses to provide door prizes. Donations are tax deductible. All donations will be listed in the Post Prom program as a contributor.
A discussion of Rebecca Skloot's book "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" will take place in the family room of Maple Crest Senior Living Village on Monday, March 26, at 3 p.m. Maple Crest Senior Living Village is located at 700 Maple Crest Ct., Bluffton.
Copies of the book are available at Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St., Bluffton.
Bluffton First United Methodist Church will hold its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser Wednesday, March 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the First UMC Fellowship Hall (church basement).
Tickets cost $7 each and the meal includes baked spaghetti, salad, breadstick and a drink.
Tickets may be purchased from any First UMC middle or high school student or in the church office from now through Saturday, March 10.
Desserts will be available on a donation basis. A limited number of tickets will be for sale at the door, and carry-out will be available.
Junior Josh Fisher (Rockford/Parkway) earned second team All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recognition for his play at both ends of the floor during the 2011-12 men's basketball season.

The Centre, 601 N. Main St., will host its annual spring murder mystery dinner - this year titled "Pandora's Box," at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 30, according to Brenda Gaines. This is the troupe's 11th performance at The Centre.
Hosted by Mr. E Murder Productions, "Pandora's Box" is a mystery based upon the reading of a will for a soon-to-be-dead Mortimer Lear. The heirs of Mr. Lear gather at the request of the man, who has lived as a recluse for decades.
Several telephone scams have been reported to Bluffton police this winter. Many have struck at elderly residents. Police Chief Rick Skilliter explained some of these scams to The Icon and warned viewers to beware.
Elaine Harris of Bluffton was named Bluffton Lions Club Citizen of the Year for 2011. The announcement was made in this month's Lions newsletter, which is an attachment to this story.
