Wendell Miller announced his retirement from Bluffton schools at the end of this school year. His retirement is action required at Monday's Bluffton school board meeting.

In addition to Miller's retirement, the board will be voting on a host of contracts, including certified, non-certified and supplemental for the 2012-13 school year. Also on the agenda are next year's class fees.

The meeting is at 7:30 p.m., in the elementary media center. The nine-page agenda is an attachment at the bottom of this story.

The spillover from game one didn't take long to boil over in game two of the Detroit- Nashville NHL playoff series. Just a minute and a half into the game Todd Bertuzzi engaged Shea Weber and soon enough the two were throwing punches at one another.

Trains are running on time on the Bluffton Western Terminal Railroad. Dr. B.W. Travis handles the Union Pacific City of San Francisco. The Travel O gauge model railroad was a Bluffton from the late 1940s to late 1970s.

Tuesday, April 10 was a tough weather day for the track and field athletes of Bluffton and Pandora-Gilboa High Schools. Temperatures that hovered around 40 degrees with 15 mile per hour winds made the going tough for both sides at the Bluffton University track, where the Pirates were able to earn victories on both the boy's and girl's side.

Leading the Pirates on the girl's side on the track was Hannah Chappell-Dick, Jill Steinmeitz, and Delaney Reinecke, with all of them winning two events.

The Bluffton University Gospel Choir will give a concert Sunday, April 15, at 6 p.m. at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, 8905 Columbus Grove Road.

The 60-member choir not only involves Bluffton Univesity students but others from the community. Dr. Crystal Sellers, a member of the university music faculty, directs the choir.

The Children's Choirs of St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora, will present "The Amazing Grace Race," on Sunday, April 22, at 11 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. Both performances are at the church, 15988 Road 4, Pandora.

The musical involves 70 children from the Bluffton/Pandora area from age 4 to grade 5. The musical tells the story of runners Annie, Riley, Jake, Bella, Claire, and Spud as they follow the direction of their coach and run the "Race of Life."
