Bluffton University senior Thomas Gingrich (Goshen, Ind/Goshen) has been named Second Team Academic All-America by CoSida.

Gingrich, a biology and pre-medicine major with a 3.89 GPA, was named First Team Academic All-District honoree as a junior. A four-year starter at right tackle for the Beavers, Gingrich was also a three-time Academic All-HCAC performer.

Bluffton residents are invited to enter this year’s Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce residential Christmas lighting contest. You may win some neat cash prizes.

Here’s how it works:

The contest is open to any residence within the Village of Bluffton corporation limits.  The corporation expanded this year, so, for example,  residents on Dixie Highway south to and Southgate Lanes are now eligible to enter the contest.

Citizens National Bank (CNB) has named Rhonda Hogrefe as Findlay branch manager.

In her position, she is responsible for branch oversight, including sales and financial performance. She will focus on coaching her team in best practices for sales and service and will continue her duties as retail/mortgage lender for the Findlay office.

Hogrefe, a Findlay native, has worked in the banking industry for 10 years.She began  at Citizens National Bank in 2008 as a customer service representative, adding lending to her duties in 2011.

 

Much of what faculty and students in Bluffton University’s business program do today has roots going back 50 years and more.

Student internships and academic collaboration with the local business community, for instance, date to initiatives introduced by the late Howard Raid during his more than 30 years as a business faculty member, beginning in 1947.

Dr. George Lehman, chair of Bluffton’s Division of Business Studies, discussed Raid’s legacy Nov. 30 in his annual lecture as the Raid Endowed Chair in business.

Greg's Pharmacy is hosting Kid's Day on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. according to Greg Conkling, Owner.

Children of all ages are invited to come and meet Santa and will recieve a free 4x6 print with Santa.

Mennonite Home Health and Senior Services, Bluffton, has unveiled the perfect holiday gift for senior family members, according to Darren Lee, director of Maple Crest Senior Living Village.

Gift certificates are available for assistance with housekeeping, running errands, personal care, companionship, pet care, or help with Christmas shopping and present wrapping.

"Our home care assistants can provide a wide range of help to get you or your loved one through this busy holiday season,"  said Lee.

It's a Kid's Shopping Day on Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Et Cetera Shop, according to Chrissy Lugibihl, manager.

All children in grades K - 6 are invited to come in and shop. Everything in the store will be only 25 cents (plus tax).  There is a limit of 10 items per child for this event.

Volunteers will be on hand to help your child shop and gift wrapping will be available. 

Dr. Terry Chappell testified before a Congressional committee, served on the NIH review committee for funding, and later treated patients as an investigator in the randomized, controlled clinical trial that has many cardiologists taking a second look at this controversial therapy for heart disease.

At the American Heart Association meeting in Los Angeles on Nov. 4, Dr. Gervasio Lamas presented the Trial to Assess Chelation (TACT).
