Former Bluffton resident, David Gillett, 78, died on Oct. 16, 2014. He was the previous owner of Gillett's Bakery on North Main Street Bluffton. Services are at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Carmel Lutheran Church, Carmel, Ind., Arrangements are handled by Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory.
The winner of Week 8 of The Icon Football Contest is Ruth Johnson. Four contestants correctly picked all 10 games this week, but Ruth was declared the winner by correctly predicting Bluffton to win by 19 or more points.

Within the next two weeks, the Village Service Department will begin the annual leaf pickup throughout town, according to Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator. He will provide leaf pick-up details during Monday's Bluffton council meeting.

"As the mowing duties begin to slow down, we will begin picking up leaves on a part-time basis," he said. "Depending on the weather and the leaves, we anticipate the leaf pick-up will last through the end of November."
The Allen County Visionaries presented the prestigious Visionary of the Year Awards at their annual dinner Thursday night. These awards are given to members of the Visionaries and members of the community who have worked to promote economic development and the betterment of our community. All proceeds from the dinner go to fund economic development efforts in Allen County.
The Visionary of the Year Award was Jim Reber. Reber is President/CEO of Health Innovations Ohio. He retired as President/CEO of St. Rita's Health Partners in 2012 after 24 years with the hospital.
Icon viewers are invited to a tree walk on the Bluffton University campus. Meet at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, in front of Marbeck Center. Joanne Antibus will lead the walk. Participants may admire and identify trees. The walk is open to the public.
