December 2014

Old Man Bluffton stopped in for a visit last Saturday. Since he retired to some place south of the Mason-Dixon Line – he won’t tell me where – I never know when to expect him. He looked good, though.

(I think he lives in Bluffton, South Carolina.)

Usually he makes a December trip here to pick up the usual Bluffton-made products for Christmas gifts.

You know, peanut brittle, Bluffton Icon coffee and the latest Bluffton Pirate and Bluffton Beaver sports ware.

From 500 to 600 high school wrestling parents and fans will be in Bluffton on Saturday, according to Alex Hanna, Bluffton High School athletic director.

• Bluffton
• Allen East
• Bath
• Delphos Jefferson

• Elida
• Lima Central Catholic
• Lima Senior

Here's a Bluffton basketball team from 1907 - perhaps is a town team. The only player identified and there's a question mark beside his name is Dr. J.S. Steiner (second from left). On a stretch, could the man in the center wearing a tie be a Hauenstein? Was he the coach?

Any ideas from Icon viewers are welcome.

It’s a packed agenda for Bluffton council on Monday. In addition to regular agenda items, Monday agenda includes:

Expect a standing-room-only crowd in the Bluffton High School gym on Monday. It's the date of the annual Bluffton elementary Christmas concert set for 1:30 p.m.

Here's the schedule, according to Alice Basinger, music teacher.
