Bluffton council will receive an update on several projects from Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, on Monday. Here's a summary of those updates:

Beaverdam Contracting was scheduled to pressure test the newly installed on Garmatter MRCH 13 and are planning on performing the bacteriological testing this week week. Once the testing is successfully completed they will be able to connect services to the new water main.

Clay Wilson, Bluffton High School senior, will sign a letter of intent to pole vault for Marian University, Indianapolis, Ind. He will sign the letter on March 18 at Bluffton High School.

Next spring, Wilson will join Head Coach Michael Holman, in Indianapolis, after a distinguished athletic career at Bluffton High School. 

In 2014, Wilson finished second at the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division III regional track meet, jumping 14feet 4 inches.

Also, Wilson finished 3rd place at the OHSAA Division III state track meet, jumping 14-4.

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina - Sophomore Trey Everett (Sidney/Fairlawn) returned to Bluffton Saturday a newly-minted All American athlete following competition at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship.

Mary  E. Fruchey, 79, died March 12, 2015, at 4:47 pm at her residence. She  was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Lima, to the late Lloyd and Pearl (McMillen) Haviland. She married Dick Inskeep who preceded her in death.  She later married Robert Fruchey on  February 25, 1961 and he died on Sept. 14, 2004.

Mary worked at Triplett Corp., Bluffton, for 27 years.  She had worked at Fredrick's Beauty School prior to that.  She attended Beaverdam Church of Christ.  Mary was a graduate of Lafayette High School.

Dr. Mark B. Hilty, 89, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at 9:20 a.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.

He was born on Sept. 8, 1925, in Columbus Grove, to Alvan B. and Nettie (Schumacher) Hilty. They both preceded him in death. On June 17, 1950, he married Marjorie B. Basinger, and she survives in Columbus Grove.

He was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1943, and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, graduating Suma Cum Laude, class of 1952.

TOLEDO, Ohio - It may have been the second Friday the 13th in as many months, but the Bluffton University baseball team felt no ill effects as the Beaver pitchers were up to the task when they made the short trip up Interstate 75 to face Lourdes College. Three late runs propelled Bluffton to a 3-2 victory over the Gray Wolves as Coach Grandey was reunited with former student assistant Tim Berta who has been in the Lourdes dugout as an assistant for the past three years.

Pandora United Methodist Church, 108 E.Washington St., Pandora. will hold a chicken barbecue dinner from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, March 22. Tickets are $8 per person (dine-in or carry-out). For ticket information, call 419.384.3782. Some tickets will be available at the door.

Pastor Bob Krueger from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Findlay, will speak on “Faith Can Move Mountains” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Jenera. The choir will sing “In Love Christ Came Among Us."  A light supper will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and all are welcome to attend the meal and the service. The Pandora United Methodist Church will be hosting a free Community Meal on Wednesday, March 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington Street, Pandora. The meal this month is provided by Sprunger Insurance. . The menu will be spaghetti, bread, salad, dessert and beverage.
