Bluffton Family Recreation is accepting registrations for spring flag football. Games are available for co-ed youth ages 7 to 8 and 9 to 11.
Games are scheduled for Saturdays from March 28 through May 7. The cost is $50 for BFR members and $60 for non-members. Registration deadline is March 14.

Two youth basketball tournaments are slated at Bluffton Family Recreation this winter, according to Joseph Beagle, director.
A fourth grade girls’ tournament is Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27-28. It will involve 10 teams and three games are guaranteed to each team. Games will be at BFR. Cost is $125 per team.
A fourth grade boys’ tournament is Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6 It is a double-elimination tournament with a limit of six teams. Games will be at BFR. Cost is $125 per team.
If you think the summer Olympic games take place in Rio, you are partially correct. Bluffton will also host an Olympics of its own – and you can participate.
Bluffton Family Recreation in cooperation with the Village of Bluffton and the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a one-day Bluffton Community Olympics on Saturday, July 30, according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director.

The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 was recently named the Chartered Organization of the Year by the Great Oaks District-Black Swamp Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
A plaque was presented by District Chairman Dave Huckeriede to members of the post Larry Core, Dennis Morrison and Commander Fred Rodabaugh. Mike Metzger is the Bluffton Boy Scoutmaster.
"The Post would like to Thank Bluffton Boy Scout Troop 256 and the Great Oaks District-Black Swamp Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America for this special Honor," Morrison told the Icon.
Lewis Family McDonald’s is looking to hire at several of its restaurants on Thursday, Feb. 18. This year marks the fourth year that the local franchise has held a hiring day.
The event will be held at each McDonald’s in Bluffton, Beaverdam, Ada, Lima, Ottawa, Delphos, and Van Wert on Feb. 18, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“Our ‘Join the Team Day’ gives interested applicants a chance to ask questions about working at McDonald’s, learn about our benefits, and be interviewed, all at one convenient time and location,” said Jessica Hall, local owner/operator.
WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Bluffton University Beavers split the squad this weekend sending part of the team to Defiance College Friday night and to the All-Ohio Championship at Otterbein University on Saturday.
