Bluffton voters will select four candidates in a 10-candidate race for Bluffton council seats on the Nov. 7 general election. This is the highest number of candidates in several elections.
The four top vote-getters will win four-year council terms beginning Jan. 1, 2018, and ending Dec. 30, 2021.
The following names will be printed on the Nov. 7 ballot. Write-in candidates may still file petitions to run, but their names will not be on the ballot. The write-in filing deadline is in August.
FROM THE ADA ICON - Officials determined that a methamphetamine lab caused the fire that extensively damaged a structure at 409 N. Main St., Ada, on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers arrested an occupant of the apartment, Karen Troglin, for assembly and/or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs. Other charges may be added in the future since the case remains under investigation.

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The 2017 HCAC Track and Field Conference Championship ended Wednesday, May 3, on an unprecedented Day 3 following a change of venue due to the severe weather conditions over the weekend that postponed several events. Undaunted by rain, the Beavers traveled to Franklin College to compete in javelin and 10,000 meter races.
Two Bluffton High School seniors who are putting together the class of 2017 graduation slide show, are the Icon's artists of the month.
The students are Sydney Staton and Madison Soper.

She has taken Photography I and Photography II as her art classes at BHS.
"Next year, I plan to go to Bluffton University and major in Mathematics and minor in Computer Science. I also plan to play soccer for Bluffton, in the fall," she said about next year's school plans.
Bluffton University will celebrate its annual May Day weekend of festivities this weekend.
May Day weather plan! Due to the forecast of flooding rains through Saturday, the May Day ceremony will be held inside Founders Hall on Saturday, May 6. The ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Bluffton HS tennis singles players are paired in the Division II tennis sectionals set for May 11 and 13. Justin Haggard is the number 1 seed in the sectional.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - It was better late than never when the Bluffton University baseball team welcomed Defiance College for the final 2017 meeting between the Northwest Ohio rivals. Wet field conditions pushed the Tuesday contest to Wednesday, May 3, and the Beavers broke the 3-3 tie with two runs in the bottom of the eighth for a 5-3 victory.
