Library program on Aug. 17 focus on evidence and eye-witness reports

Bluffton Public Library will host a program led by the Southeastern Ohio Society for Bigfoot Investigation (SOSBI) on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m.

This is the second time the library has invited the society to speak in their facilities, with the 2015 program reaching over 100 audience members.

Registrants will listen to a lecture, including accounts of experiences in the woods, and may take a look at SOSBI’s display items and enjoy refreshments provided by the library.

The Southeastern Ohio Society of Bigfoot Investigation (SOSBI) brought over 100 attendees from all over Ohio to Bluffton last time they visited.

Here's a photograph from the Beaverdam High School 1963 yearbook. It's the Beaverdam Girls' Athletic Association (GAA). This was the last year for Beaverdam High School. Names of student members are under the photo.

Bluffton Community Preschool will hold a community open house on Monday, Aug.  7, from 6 to 8 p.m. to let the community tour its new location in the Bluffton Presbyterian Church, 112 Main St.

The event is open to the public and refreshments will be served.

The teaching staff will be present to answer questions parents of children may have. Registration forms are available for last minute enrollments.

The staff encourages parents to bring their children to see the new space.

Bluffton's small-town super hero and family thank the community

Owen Weaver is not just any kid, and the 2017 Cheverlot Express is not just any vehicle.

Owen is Bluffton's small-town hero. The car is especially designed with a lift to take him to events and doctor appointments.

The vehicle was unveiled on Thursday and Owen and his family were there to thank all the local contributors to the project.

Bluffton's 4th annual National Night Out - one huge success

How do you top this? You don’t.

The Bluffton Police Department, in conjunction with the Pandora Police Department, and participation from Bluffton, Beaverdam-Richland Township and Pandora Fire and EMS Departments threw a party - and everyone came.

It was our 4th annual National Night Out at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool on Aug. 1.

Were there more than 2,500 who attended? Probably.

Emmanuel United Church of Christ will hold an ice cream social from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 4, at the church.

The menu includes chicken or sloppy joe sandwiches, chicken noodles, baked beans, a variety of salads, pies, pluse ice cream and beverages.

Tickets are $8 adults, $4 children 10 and under.

The church is located at 8375 Phillips Road, Bluffton

5 Myles High, a Bluffton-based jazz combo featuring a trumpet, bass, vocals, piano and drums, will perform during this year's Mennonite Memorial Home concert on the lawn ice cream social.

The social, free and open to the public is at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 20. It takes place on the back lawn of the Mennonite Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.

Members of the group are Myles Bowers, trumpet, Sean McNeal, percussion, Krysti Schhey, piano and vocals, and Philip Schey, bass and vocals.
