Interested in a new flavor of peanut brittle? Roger Edwards holds two packages of black walnuts. On Monday, the senior center peanut brittle crew created two unique flavors: black walnut and English walnut peanut brittle.
These two flavors are only available while their limited supply lasts. The cost is one-half pound for $7 each.
In the meantime, the standard peanut brittle is also available while supplies last at $5 for one pound.
The candy is on sale at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St.
The fourth annual Riley Creek Christmas tour is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, according to Tom McCullough of Pandora.
It includes five stops along the Riley Creek near Pandora. All the buildings on the tour have historical significance and will be decorated for the holidays.
The Pandora United Methodist Church Choir will present a Christmas Cantata, “Morning Star” written by Lloyd Larson on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 9:30 a.m. during the worship service.
The church service and refreshments in the fellowship hall afterwards are open to the public. The choir is directed by Pat Basinger and accompanied by Pat Michel. The church is located on State Route 12 at 108 E. Washington Street in Pandora. The Rev. Duane Kemerley is the pastor.
Maple Crest Senior Living Village will provide a festive meal and entertainment at the Tuesday, Dec. 4, PrimeTimers Fellowship. The luncheon menu includes: Stuffed Chicken Marsala, glazed carrots, au gratin potatoes, cranberry/walnut bread, coffee and dessert. The Bluffton High School Show Choir and Chamber Choir, directed by Kara Zink, will provide the entertainment.
The Bluffton University music department will present “Christmas Festival” during Forum at 11 a.m. on Dec. 4, in Yoder Recital Hall.
Students will perform compositions that prepare hearts and minds for the Christmas season. This concert will feature Bluffton’s Camerata Singers, University Chorale, Woodwind Ensemble and Low Brass Ensemble.
Under the direction of Dr. Bo Young Kang, Camerata Singers will perform “Carol of the Bells,” ”The Very Best Time of Year” and “Do You Hear What I Hear.”
Birchaven Village, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, will host an open house art show displaying the artwork created by residents with dementia through the program “Opening Minds through Art” (OMA). This art show will take place on November 29, 2018 from 1 to 5 p.m. in The Hub at Birchaven, located at 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay. A ceremony recognizing the artists will begin at 2 p.m. and guests will have the opportunity to meet and speak with the artists.

Yes, Bluffton loves a parade. This year's Blaze of Lights parade on Nov. 24 is one of the favorites. This year's parade, with temperatures hovering in the high 40s, drew an exceptionally large crowd.
Bill and Phyllis Marchal, owners of Bluffton Dari Freeze, were this year's parade grand marshals. Dr. Jane Wood, president of Bluffton University, was this year's switch-hitter, turning on the Ream lights.

About those falling leaves.
The village will continue its leaf pick up until Thursday, Dec. 6, announced Bryan Lloyd, assistant village administrator, during Monday’s Bluffton council meeting.
The weather, of course, had hindered this fall’s leaf pickup. Lloyd said that after Dec. 6 residents with leaves may place them in biodegradable bags at the curb for Wednesday brush pick up. Residents may also continue to use the Spring Street brush dump for leaf deposit.
Riley Creek United Methodist Church invites the community to its 47th annual Christmas Carol Sing on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m., according to Rev. Duane Kemerley, pastor.
The program will feature congregational singing of many traditional carols, as well as readings from scripture about Jesus’ birth, special performances by the Pandora United Methodist Church Choir, Ottawa Saints Peter and Paul Choir, other musicians, and a candle-lighting ceremony.
Due to low numbers and injuries at Upper Scioto Valley, Bluffton HS will move its girls' basektball game, scheduled against USV for Tuesday, Nov.27, to Tuesday Dec. 4.
