“A Christmas market in the mansion” takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Jones Mansion, 313 E. Sandusky St., Findlay.

Admission is a $3 donation at the door with proceeds going toward upkeep and restoration of the mansion.

The event includes several market vendors with primitive holiday wares, paper goods, jewelry, women’s boutique clothing, cookies, children’s clothing, teas, herbs and flowers, soaps, Ohio poured candles, pillows, jams and jellies, doodle designs, quilting, dried fruit snacks, handmade stone coasters and more.

SANDUSKY - The Bluffton boys soccer team outlasted Fairview Park 2-1 in a double overtime epic marathon in Div. III regional semifinal play at Sandusky Perkins High School on a rainy, chilly Wednesday evening.

The dramatic win upped the Pirate season record to 16-2-2. Bluffton advances to the regional finals vs. top-ranked Ottawa Hills (15-2-2) Saturday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. at Defiance High School.

A Bluffton Halloween story

Here’s a Bluffton story ripe for Oct. 31. 

For best effect, turn out your lights except for perhaps a candle, flashlight or very dim lamp. A handful of Bluffton residents know a different version, with a plausible explanation. If interested, bring this up to Nancy King, Sam Diller or Charles Hilty. 

In the meantime, we stand by the following account.

In 1954 Bluffton voters approved a decision to raze the old Victorian-style Bluffton school building making way for a modern structure. It was an emotional decision, but necessary.

Village trick-or-treat hours: Thursday, Oct. 31, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

• BFR will have Twisted Whisk, Dari Freeze, Bluffton EMS and BFR handing out candy. Others are invited to BFR to also hand out candy – 6 to 7:30 p.m.

• Mennonite Memorial Home, 6 to 7 p.m.

• Maple Crest and Willow Ridge, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

• English Lutheran Church, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

• Bluffton Public Library, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

• Bluffton University Mosiman Hall (music building), 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Bluffton Senior Citizen's Center Christmas garage sale takes place Friday Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. -5 p.m., and Saturday Nov. 2, 9 a.m.-noon, according to Tonya Meyer, center director.

The annual sale is at the Center, 132 N. Main St. The sale includes "everything you need to get ready for the holidays," said Meyer.

April Horton ’20, a physics major from Findlay  will share about her summer research experience in in Honolulu on Tuesday, Nov. 5, in Musselman Library’s Reading Room.

Horton completed an astronomy research experience through the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The Research Experience for Undergraduates internship was funded by the National Science Foundation. 

BHS 2 - Fairview 1 - in two overtimes

Bluffton High School boys' soccer team defeated a determined Fairview team 2-1 in the Division III regional semi-finals tonight in Sandusky.

Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, is ready to treat Halloweeners on Thursday evening. BFR has treats for all guests during the hours of 6 to 7:30 p.m., according to Daniel Tinch of BFR.

An open house for Keith and Shirley Sommer's 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Nov. 2, from 1-4 p.m. at Grace Mennonite Church's Fellowship Hall, Pandora.

Members of Bluffton University’s Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association and Bluffton Education Association are inviting community members and trick-or-treaters to Mosiman Hall from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, Bluffton’s trick-or-treat night. Classrooms will be decorated for the Halloween holiday and treats will be handed out.

The Bluffton University Social Work Club is sponsoring a canned food drive during the village of Bluffton’s trick-or-treat time on Thursday, Oct. 31.
