July 2022

Review by Robert McCool

Occasionally a book comes along that captures and holds my interest until it's finished. Whether it is story or plot or writing skill, I'm pulled in and all other activities I'm doing fade away because I'm hooked into the book.

Booth (Random House, ISBN 978-0-593-55649-8) is Karen Joy Fowler's 2022 release, and her second novel. (Her first novel is We are All Completely Besides Ourselves). The well-written story is a meticulous glimpse into the past before Abraham Lincoln was killed in cold blood by John Wilkes Booth.

Ohio voters will select nominees for state legislative offices in a second primary election on Aug. 2. Registration, ballot and voting information is listed below.

The Bluffton polls will be open from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. at The Centre at Bluffton, 601 N. Main St. That evening there will also be National Night Out celebrations held across Snider Rd. at the Bluffton Community Pool.

In the late 1890s Bluffton had 12 saloons.

These saloons, for men only, offered several hard-liquor options to their customers.

This was also a period in the life of the community when several signs posted on Main Street read “No spitting on sidewalks.” Meaning tobacco spitting.

The Village of Bluffton is conducting a Bluffton Beyond Tomorrow survey to assist in advance planning for the village. Over 300 responses have been received and more are welcome.

The 12 question survey takes about 8 minutes to complete and is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/rpcbbt2022

You can also use the QR code on the attached flyer to access and share the survey. If you haven't used a QR code before, view the code through your cell phone camera and follow the onscreen prompts.

On July 1, 2022, surrounded by the love of his parents and brothers, Kevin Charles Sehlhorst passed away.

Born on August 11, 2008, to Ben and Beth (Wasserman) Sehlhorst, Kevin was a determined, kind, genuine, fierce, strong and happy soul who loved his family, his home and his very best friends: brothers Landon and Bryce.

The S.H.A.N.N.O.N. (Sharing Hopes And Nourishing Needs Of Neighbors) Service Club of Bluffton (in cooperation with the Village of Bluffton, the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Bluffton American Legion) is inviting you to help decorate Main Street of Bluffton with American Flags flying in the wind.  These bright red, white, and blue pennants are already adding a touch of colorful beauty to our Bluffton Community this summer.

This is a WIN, WIN, WIN, WIN situation for all of us.

Whether you and your child play golf to relax on the weekends or to be competitive, a risk of injury exists just like in other sports. It is important to take precautions against getting hurt and to seek medical attention in the case of injury.

Before looking at what’s changed this year, let’s review the key benefits of these accounts:

In our periodic series of content swaps, we sent Ada Icon readers an update on expanded 401(k), IRA opportunities from Edward Jones advisor Ryan DeMarco and bring you these holiday weekend events in Ada.
