The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2023 Blaze Parade Theme will be "A Journey Through Time."

The announcement encourages you to "Experience the magic of the past, present, and future at the Blaze of Lights Parade 2023! .... From Victorian carolers to retro 1950s-inspired decorations to modern programmed displays, floats will take us on a journey through different eras. Use you imagination and creativity to create a parade entry that celebrates Christmas traditions."

The Blaze of Lights festival is held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This year the date is Saturday, November 25. This will be the 37th annual festival.

Jerry R. Diamond, 78, passed away August 13, 2023 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. Jerry was born August 3, 1945 in Alva, Kentucky to the late John and Ann (Miller) Diamond.

Why should we retell the story of the 1933 robbery of the Citizens National Bank by the John Dillinger gang? Does it glorify a vicious criminal? That certainly wasn’t the effect of the Saturday, August 12 observation of Bluffton History Day that drew some 180 people to the corner of Main and Church streets.

FINDLAY— Get out in the parks and go fishing as a family. Learn about the basics of fishing by trying to catch some fish that live in Giertz Lake. All skill levels are welcome. A fishing pole will be provided or bring your own. Corn and hotdogs will be available for bait or bring your own lucky lure! All participants who are 16 years of age or older will need a valid Ohio Fishing License.

Ohio Northern University has announced children’s auditions for its 2023 Holiday Spectacular musical extravaganza.

Auditions for singers and dancers between the ages of 5 and 12 will take place from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10 in the Freed Center for The Performing Arts, 500 W. College Ave., Ada. 

Hummin' & Strummin' Song Circle will meet at 5:30 p.m. each Monday the library is open. This is a relaxed, song-circle style music session and anyone is welcome to join or listen in. Bring your instrument, voice, or listening ears! 

Registration for Fall Storytime opens August 14. Register at the front desk or by scanning the QR code provided on the calendar, flyers, and Fall Storytime brochure. Storytime is a session where children can hear themed stories,

The Bluffton High School boys golf team competed well in a four-team Northwest Conference match Thursday afternoon, August 10, at the Bluffton Golf Course.

The Village of Bluffton has provided a preliminary agenda for the August 14 Council Meeting including the following items. The regular council meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. with a public hearing at 7:05 p.m. regarding an alley vacation petition for 150 Cherry St.

EF1 TORNADO CONFIRMED IN KENTON...HARDIN COUNTY OHIO.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio has confirmed an EF1 tornado occurred in Kenton, Hardin County, Ohio during the early afternoon hours of today, August 12, 2023.

This conclusion stems from a damage survey that is being conducted. Maximum winds have been estimated at 90 mph.

Additional information, including tornado track data, will be made available later this evening. A final assessment, including results of the survey, are expected to be completed and transmitted via a Public Information Statement.
