BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys basketball team lost a 76-74 overtime barnburner to Spencerville in a battle of the last two Northwest Conference unbeatens on February 2.

OTTAWA__The Bluffton High School swim teams swept all six dual meets in a four-team event at the Putnam County YMCA on February 1.

The Pirate teams defeated Elida, Ada and McComb convincingly. Bluffton also won all three combined team dual meets easily. 

Dr. Roy Couch, associate professor of music, will share, “The Possibilities of the Digital Sound Palette in Music Creation,” during Bluffton University’s spring 2024 Colloquium series.

Et Cetera Shop, Inc. of Bluffton will hold will hold a style show, “Celebrating 50 Years of Fashion” at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at the Bluffton Middle School cafetorium. The show is among the events planned for 2024 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Et Cetera Shop, Inc.

SPENCERVILLE__The visiting Bluffton High School girls basketball team lost 59-32 to Northwest Conference foe Spencerville on February 1.

The Lima Symphony Orchestra is coming to the Bluffton Public Library for a special storytime on Mon., Feb. 12 at 10:00 a.m.

On 1-30-2024 at approximately 11:39 a.m. the Allen County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from a Columbus area car dealership regarding a 2016 Dodge Challenger that was stolen overnight from one of their lots. The vehicle in question was outfitted with tracking devices that showed it at the property of 525 S. Kemp Rd. Elida, Ohio 45806.

Group finds districts have "unique needs," does not mandate seat belts

COLUMBUS__On January 31, more than two dozen recommendations were issued by the Ohio School Bus Safety Working Group to enhance the safety of school bus travel in Ohio.

Governor DeWine created the working group in August, following the death of a Northwestern Local School District student who was killed in Clark County after another vehicle collided with his school bus. 

The report lists a total of 17 recommendations related to bus driver recruitment and retention; training and education; school bus safety features; road and traffic safety; emergency response; and commercial bus services.
