Appalachian Dulcimer Music Brings in the Christmas Season

Three area dulcimer players and groups will take the stage Wednesday for concert of Christmas music. Appalachian Mountain dulcimers will celebrate Christmas, not only as they^aEURTMve been played in the past, but as they are interpreted and dynamically re-created today.

Vicki Stuckert has been playing the mountain dulcimer since 1999. She has taught hundreds how to play the mountain dulcimer with her own special beginner strip method. She has 25 dulcimers that she travels with that allow for hands on instruction. In 2003 she won 1st place in the contemporary mountain dulcimer at the Ohio Hills Folk Festival.

The Conkers are a family group who have been performing traditional music together for over twenty-five years, and their many talents include Appalachian Dulcimer playing. They have taken ten trips to England where they traveled widely, observing and taking part in many traditional customs. The individual members of Conkers are Sharon Wildermuth, her husband, Michael, and her sister, Sheila Rowe.
