Alumni Forum focus on life after graduation

A panel of Bluffton University alumni currently working in corporate roles will share “Life After Graduation: What They Don’t Tell You About Working in the Real World” during Bluffton University’s Alumni Forum at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Held in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall, the discussion will be moderated by Dr. LaShonda Gurley, director of the Center for Career and Vocation at Bluffton University.

Bluffton Pediatrics participates in disabilities event

Conference and resource fair March 28

Bluffton Pediatrics will participate in the 6th annual Regional Disabilities Conference and Resource Fair in March.

The event is held from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 28, at Union Chapel Missionary Church, 4869 Ada Road, Lima.

This is a regional resource and information event by the Allen County Educational Service Center, the Allen County Parent Mentor Program, the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the West Central Ohio Abilities Collaborative and Autism Life Center.

Friday's chamber breakfast topic

Economic development in Bluffton and Allen County is the theme of Friday's Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

The event is Friday, Feb. 14, in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall, 154 N. Main St. Breakfast is served from 7 to 7:30 a.m. and the program is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.

The breakfast sponsor is the Allen Economic Development Group (AEDG), a public/private partnership formed in 1993 as a facilitator for countywide economic development. 

This cooperative effort has been a significant catalyst for economic growth in Lima/Allen County.

Bluffton Lions invite your nominations for citizen of the year

This year’s winner will be feted at a banquet on April 21  

The Bluffton Lions Club seeks nominees for the 2019 Citizen of the Year Award.  

The award was established in 1981 to honor a person, couple, or person representing a group, who has selflessly given time, effort, and talent for the benefit of those in the Bluffton area, and whose dedication and achievements have profoundly improved the quality of life of the people in this area.  

The nominee may be living or deceased within the last year. This year’s winner will be feted at a banquet on April 21, 2020.

Chocolate forever

Nancy Benroth, Jane Amstutz and Sharon Reichenbach were among the 200 chocolate walk participants on Thursday evening in downtown Bluffton. Jamie Nygaard found them in Town and Country Flowers.

Star-gazing at the ONU Observatory this spring

The Ohio Northern University Observatory will be open to the public for a number of events this spring, according to Dr. Jason Pinkley, professor of physics and astronomy at ONU. These follow:

Friday, Feb. 14, 7--9- p.m. - "Venus, Goddess of Love": Cuddle up with your significant other under starry skies to see Venus, the most prominent planet in the evening sky.
