The Bluffton University women's basketball team fell short against the Mount St. Joseph Lions, 62-58, on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023. The Beavers fell to 12-8 overall and 7-7 in the conference. The Lions improved their overall record to 12-8 with a 9-4 mark in the HCAC.
Bluffton University’s nursing program has been granted the full five-year accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the nation’s leading accrediting agency for nursing programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and residency levels.
The accreditation status follows a successful virtual site accreditation visit with an evaluation team composed of three CCNE-appointed nursing education leaders.
At 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, Jazzercize at Bluffton Family Recreation is hosting a "give back" opportunity and free exercise class for baby Ellie, the daughter of Sarah and Christian Koch and granddaugher of Dave and Julie Stratton, who was born prematurely and is hospitalized.
The Black Swamp Area Council's 2023 Klondike Derby for area boy scouts was just a little ahead of the snowy-slushy weather of last week. With or without snow, this annual tradition draws hundreds of BSA members. This year, 39 sled teams gathered for the competition at Camp Berry, 11716 Co Rd 40, south of Findlay--including the "Sour Patch Kids Patrol" from Bluffton's Troop 256. Other teams were from Northwest and West Central Ohio.
The daylong event challenged patrol groups of 5-8 Scouts with tests of skills, agility and endurance. Patrols competed at seven "city" stations scattered across camp. Across wet grass and mud, scouts navigated their sleds and raced against each other. To accomodate the number of sleds competing, there were multiple start times.
In light of renewed community concerns about pedestrian safety at the intersection of College Avenue and Main Street, the members of the Bluffton Library Board would like to publicly express our support for a traffic signal at that intersection. We applaud the past efforts of Paula Scott and others who have diligently worked to improve the situation. However, we believe that the return of a traffic signal is the safest solution. On behalf of our patrons and other community members, we fully support any efforts to reinstall a traffic light at this intersection.
At 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, folks interested in creating a Bluffton history organization and museum will be meeting on the third floor of Town Hall, 154 N. Main. Coordinator Dan Groman is sending out reminders including:
- Come with some ideas of names for this organization
- Think about helping as an officer
- Bring ideas on chartering and getting established
