The August 27 Punt, Pass and Kick competition hosted by the Ada Area Chamber of Commers as part of the Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival is one of 41 competitions sanctioned by PPKUSA.

The cost to participate? The competition is free and open to children ages 6-15. Participants compete in punt, pass and kick skills in the following age groups:

The anticipation is almost over. After a year of preparation by Bluffton Lions Foundation volunteers, the July 16 Ride to Remember is on the horizon. This is the 8th annual event, which provides multiple scenic routes for bicyclists, from an 11-mile fun ride to the 111-mile Triplett Challenge, which awards personalized certificates.

The marked routes have rest areas 16-20 miles apart, with water, ice and snacks. GPS routes, registration and complete details are available at www.RidetoRemember.net

Rachel Irene (Criblez) Crow, 103, of Findlay passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022, at Blanchard Valley Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Bluffton to Adele (Grant) and Alfred Criblez. She married Almond Leroy "Roy" Crow on Oct. 3, 1945, who preceded her in death on July 10, 2004.

She is survived by her four children who loved and revered her: Toinette (James) Mohr, Greeley, CO; Rosine (Paul) Kohler, Port Townsend, WA; Curtis (Bonnie) Crow, Bow, NH; and Robroy (Debra) Crow, Findlay.

On Thursday, July 14, the segment of Bentley Rd from Elm to Grove Street will be closed from 8:00-10:00 a.m.

The closure is related to the installation of lights at Salzman Stadium.

Pleasant View United Methodist Church, Bluffton, will host an old-fashioned ice cream social from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. The social is part of the church’s ongoing 150th anniversary celebration.

The menu includes shredded chicken sandwiches, homemade chicken and noodles, hot dogs, assorted chips, pies, cookies, ice cream, lemonade and water.

Donations accepted. The public is welcome.

Bluffton University will hold a Summer Prospect Camp for baseball players on August 14, 2022. The program is for players in grades 10-12.

The invitation describes the event as "an important prospect identification tool for the Bluffton University baseball program. While serving to identify top prospects, it also allows the prospects to spend a day with our program and gain valuable exposure to our staff and players, while performing on Memorial Field, one of the best fields in the region."
