Grant celebrates company's 70th anniversary

April 25 media release__One local non-profit organization will benefit from local manufacturer Nutrien celebrating its 70th anniversary. Nutrien Lima Nitrogen in Shawnee Township began manufacturing nitrogen products in 1955, beginning with ammonia production.

Kenneth Eugene Mast, 99, of Crystal River, FL passed away April 10, 2025, in Lecanto. He was born on February 2, 1926, to Abraham and Esther Mast in Sugar Creek, OH.

Kenneth and family learned to sing and dance in their early years and were featured on the “Major Bowes Original Amateur Hour Radio Show.” He graduated from Sugar Creek High School, OH then joined the US Navy where he served during WWII in Hawaii. During his service, Kenneth enjoyed playing on the basketball team and entertaining the troops with music.

Alger photographer Raquel Massie shared this impressive bald eagle sighted on April 5 from the shelter house at Bluffton Village Park. "I love going through there every chance I can," she notes. An Ohio DNR map shows eagle's nests in the neighborhood of Bluffton and Beaverdam.

WLIO-Hometown Stations reported a barn fire on Hillville Rd. between Bentley and County Line roads on the afternoon of April 24.

The barn was destroyed and siding was damaged on nearby buildings. 

Bluffton Fire Department responded to the call for service. A controlled burn was the source of the fire.

The Village of Bluffton Council will hold a regular meeting on Monday, April 28 with the attached agenda. It includes the following legislation.
