Bluffton University bands and choirs will perform in the music department's annual Pops Concert, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 9, in Founders Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
Four Bluffton University students are scheduled to compete in the university's annual C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Participating students give a speech of no more than 10 minutes that applies the Christian peace position to an issue of contemporary concern.

Flutist Kristen Shelly, a Bluffton University senior from Penfield, N.Y., won the first Mosiman Young Artist Competition at Bluffton's recent Bach Festival.
A $100 cash prize accompanied the title for Shelly, a sociology major who was also the Audience Choice winner. She was one of three finalists chosen by faculty to perform at the concert that concluded the festival, hosted by the university's music department.
The other finalists were clarinetist Alycia Althaus, a senior from Findlay, and soprano Kristin Beckman, a sophomore from Ottawa.
