The elephant ear plant is a tropical perennial, but you might be fooled into thinking it likes Ohio weather, too. A big, beautiful specimen can be found in Janette and Sam Reineke's yard on S. Main St. The plant is a family heirloom that belonged to Sam's mother. It is planted and dug up every year.
Bluffton First United Methodist Church is inviting the community to a photo day on Monday, Oct 17 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct 18 from 3:00-8:00 p.m.
All are welcome to come and get a family or individual photo taken; you do not have to be church members or be included the directory. Participants will receive a free 8x10 photo just for coming, no purchase necessary. Options will be available to order prints that should all arrive in time for Christmas.
Bluffton University will offer a Master of Social Work (MSW) graduate degree with a mental health specialization starting in the 2023-24 academic year. The program will be conducted in partnership with Goshen College and is pending Higher Learning Commission approval.
The Bluffton boys cross country team finished seventh at the 17-team Van Wert County Hospital meet at the reservoir course Saturday.
Lincolnview won with 76 points, followed by host Van Wert (99).
Senior Erik Nygaard finished an impressive second out of 150 runners to pace the Pirates. He crossed the finish line 7.5 seconds behind race winner Noah Williams of Shawnee.
Pirate senior Sam Derstine finished a solid 19th.
The Pirate boys posted a solid average time of 17:50 per runner.
